This oil contains significant amounts of C18 delta 11, (omega 6) fatty acid, in contrast to the conventional delta 9, (oleic acid). Based upon recent analyses, the commercial seed oil content of milkweed ranges from 22.2% to 26.2%. Peroxide values and the tocopherol content of the oils were dependent on the handling and storage conditions of the oil after extraction. Previous analyses of other species and samples collected from the wild will also be presented. |
