This study assessed the influence of different components of soil clay fractions, montmorillonite, iron oxide, and humic acid and binary and ternary associations on sorption of imidacloprid. Sorption on soil clay fractions increased with increased percent OC and surface area. This indicates a contribution of surfaces of mineral components of soil clay for sorption. Imidacloprid sorbed on montmorillonite and humic acid, but sorption was low on iron oxide. Sorption Kd on montmorillonite increased when pH decreased, suggesting protonation of the imidazol ring. Sorption on binary and ternary associations of sorbents indicated that organic matter is the most important single component affecting sorption of imidacloprid. |
