Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Uniform Regional Hard Red Spring Wheat Performance Nursery had 34 entries from 6 public wheat breeding programs, 4 USA and 2 Canadian, and 3 private companies in 1996. It was grown at 22 locations and data were returned from 20 locations. Scab was only present at two locations in 1996. MN93413, SBE0050, and ND695 were the highest yielding entries over locations and did not differ significantly. MN93413 is a cross with Asian scab resistance, SBE0050 is the highest yielding entry for 2 years in the nursery, and ND695 is a scab susceptible entry aimed primarily for western North Dakota. The best scab resistance in these elite lines was exhibited by SD3249 and FA994-601. About 62 research and administrative personnel received the report.
