MaizeDB includes information about map loci, including QTL; the data in support of the maps; functional and bibliographic annotation; and certain tools; e.g., genetic stocks (or germplasm) and clones. It has grown from the 1991 on-line single-interface prototype, with under 20,000 records, to a multi-interface database where over 123,000 records have been entered with many loci, variations, clones, gene products and stocks seamlessly linked to external databases. In order to make the growing body of information more accessible, several browsing files have been developed which dynamically extract the most current data from database tables. Most of these may be found on the 'Of Interest to Maize Cooperators' page. Examples that will be presented include colleague addresses; PCR primers for simple sequence repeats (SSR); the core markers for the bins maps; probes; genetic stocks; Zealand; an annual, genetically organized bibliography; mutant images; files of new data (What's New in MaizeDB) as they are incorporated. |
