Publication Type: Review Article Publication Acceptance Date: 2/7/1997 Publication Date: N/A Citation: N/A Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Reducing the levels of mycotoxin contamination in agricultural products requires an understanding of how and why fungi make these toxins. Common features in the production of different fungal toxins include the clustering of toxin pathway genes. Knowledge of fungal toxin gene clusters and their relationships to other fungal metabolic pathways is reviewed. Implications of pathway gene clustering with respect to pathway evolution and regulation is also discussed. |
