Plant height, leaf length in main stems and branches were measured twice a week and were related to the growing degree days. Also, growth stages and times to flowering were observed. Specific functions were used to simulate the growth curves for both main stem and branch leaves. The spacial distribution of the leaf area was also determined. In the total variance of leaves produced by different densities, branch leaves contributed most. Vertical distribution of main stem leaves was not significantly affected by the density. Variances of branch leaves were more sensitive to humidity than main stem leaves. |
