Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Field experiments were conducted at Stoneville, MS to compare control of velvetleaf in soybeans with imazethapyr using commercially available and experimental adjuvants. Soybeans were planted in rows spaced 1 m apart with each plot consisting of four rows 12 m in length with four rows of velvetleaf planted perpendicular to the soybeans in rows spaced 1 m apart. Adjuvants were classified as non-ionic surfactants and crop oil concentrates. Crop oil concentrates consisted of petroleum and methylated oils. Adjuvants were added at concentrations recommended by the manufacturer and applied in water at 140 L/ha with a tractor mounted sprayer. Imazethapyr was applied at a rate of 0.07 kg ai/ha with 28-0-0 liquid fertilizer added to all treatments at the rate of 2.5% (v/v). Control of velvetleaf at 21 DAT ranged from 46% to 80%.
