Interpretive Summary: This publication presents an overview of rice production practices that are recommended for the Texas rice growing area. The section on Varieties' presents a comparison of eighteen cultivars that are adapted for production in Texas. Ten of these rice cultivars are conventional long-grains, four are specialty aromatic rices, and four are medium grain cultivars. This document provides a succinct comparison of these cultivars for height, maturity, yield, milling quality, reaction diseases, and other pertinent traits in an effort to help producers in their decision making process for cultivating rice in Texas.
