Interpretive Summary: Profitable soybean production is dependent upon high yielding disease resistant varieties. SAVOY soybean, developed in Illinois, is a new variety that combines high seed yield with resistance a disease that causes root and stem rot of susceptible plants. This variety was tested in Indiana and is adapted to production in the northern half of the state. This bulletin summarizes the performance and characteristics of SAVOY soybean. The information will be useful to extension personnel and to farmers who need to grow a high yielding disease resistant soybean cultivar in Indiana.

Technical Abstract: Profitable soybean production is dependent upon high yielding disease resistant cultivars. SAVOY soybean, developed in Illinois, combines high seed yield with resistance to multiple races of the pathogen that caused Phytophthora root and stem rot. Savoy has genes for Phytophthora resistance than differ from those commonly used in Midwest varieties. This variety was tested in Indiana and is adapted to production in the northern half of the state. This bulletin summarizes the performance and characteristics of SAVOY soybean. The information will be useful to extension personnel and to farmers who need to grow a high yielding disease resistant soybean cultivar.
