Technical Abstract: This is a presentation of the status of chemicals and drugs needed in aquaculture with reference to U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for their use on food fish. Research activity and estimated time to approval of 8 chemicals or drugs is discussed. Included are chloramine-T, copper sulfate, formalin, potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide, oxytetracycline, Aqui-S, and sarafloxacin.
