Interpretive Summary: Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) is a highly seed transmissible pathogen in several host plants including the cultivated potato. True potato seed (TPS) has gained prominence as a planting material in developed and developing countries because of its ease of transportation and storage. Because of its ease of transmission, PSTVd is of quarantine significance in many countries, including the European Union and Canada. This datasheet is a review of the literature regarding the biology, epidemiology, and regulatory status of PSTVd and includes a review of major methods used for detection of PSTVd. The quarantine pest datasheet series, of which this is a part, will be used as a tool by regulatory officials and researchers who require a concise source of information on PSTVd.
