Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Human occupation of arid regions is often characterized by conflicts over limited water resources. Using a water-related conflict in the western U.S. involving Native Americans, the federal government, and local interests, we demonstrate the possibility of the settlement of seemingly conflicting claims to water using enhanced game theory elements.
