Interpretive Summary: Larvae of species of the sawfly family Cephidae are stem and twig borers. Some species are known to cause extensive damage in wheat and other grain crops, in pear and apple orchards, and in berry crops. The three species of a southeastern Asian genus, Urosyrista, are characterized, and one species redescribed and illustrated. The identity of the genus and its species will be of assistance to APHIS personnel to help prevent introduction of harmful species.

Technical Abstract: The holotype of Syrista speciosa Mocsary, described from Vietnam, is redescribed and illustrated and confirmed as belonging to the genus Urosyrista Maa. Possible characters are presented to separate it from other species of this southeastern Asian genus.
