Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Uniform Regional Scab Nursery was grown for the third time in 1997. It was composed of 38 entries from AgriPro, South Dakota State University, North Dakota State University, Montana State University, USDA-ARS and University of Minnesota, and Agric. Canada in Winnipeg and Swift Current. The nursery was grown in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Manitoba. All six locations evaluated had irrigation or misting available for enhanced disease infection. Visual head symptoms of scab infection and spread were evaluated at all locations and percent infected kernels were evaluated at five of the six locations. Entries varied in their performance across location. The group that contained Asian resistance were more resistant than the other entries.
