Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This late-breaker presentation will present new information on the use of fluorogenic probe-based PCR assays, for use in real-time detection of bacterial agents in clinical specimens and in vectors. Adaptation of these assays to novel, DOD-sponsored analytical thermal cycler instruments, including microchip-based platforms, will also be discussed, as will the use of newer methods for high-throughput, rapid sample processing for PCR assays. This presentation will provide investigators with information on near- future protocols and platforms that they may find useful for their research into vector biology.
