Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The bark of this plant has been used as a diuretic and astringent. Upon a survey of anticancer effect, aqueous extract of Tabebui avellanedae were found to show an inhibitory effect on Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) early antigen activation and on two-stage mouse skin carcinogenesis induced by TPA. Following screening for cancer chemopreventive effect, we tested aqueous extract for their effect on DMBA-fumonisin B1 two-stage mouse skin carcinogenesis. This effect suggested that aqueous extract could be valuable for anti-tumor promoter in chemical carcinogenesis.
