Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This presentation will review significant developments in 1998 in the epidemiology and ecology of various vector-borne bacterial diseases of cats, including typhus, bartonellosis, plague, and tularemia. Additionally, data regarding the use of novel, florogenic probe-based assays for the detection of several of these pathogens, will be discussed, including the use of prototype, DOD-sponsored miniature thermal cycler platforms.
