Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The International Program for Water Management in Agriculture at The Ohio State University is an outgrowth of nearly 60 years of drainage education and research at Ohio State by eminent scholars and educators. The program objectives include the recognition of outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and use of drainage in agricultural production; conducting continuing education and outreach education; and conducting research programs in drainage engineering and technology. The Overholt Drainage Education and Research Program, Overholt Drainage School, and the International Drainage Hall of Fame are major components of the International Program. The International Drainage Hall of Fame, established in 1979, is named in honor of the late Professor Virgil Overholt. Professor Overholt devoted 42 years to education and research on agricultural drainage in Ohio. Beginning in 1979, the Program has bestowed the Drainage Hall of Fame Award to 19 outstanding people who have made significant contributions to the development and use of drainage in agricultural production.
