Technical Abstract: Neospora caninum is a single celled parasite of livestock and companion animals. It can cause abortion in livestock and paralysis in companion animals. Dogs are the reservoir hosts for this parasite and excrete the resistant stage (oocyst) in feces. This review summarizes current information on the life cycle and biology of N. caninum.
