Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Uniform Regional Scab Nursery was grown for the 4th year in 1998. It was composed of 33 entries from AgriPro, South Dakota State University, North Dakota State University, Montana State University, Washington State University, Western Plant Breeders, and Agric. Canada in Manitoba and USDA- ARS University of Minnesota. The nursery was grown at locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Manitoba. All six locations where entries were evaluated had irrigation or misting available for enhanced disease infection and all were inoculated with Fusarium. Visual head symptoms of scab infection and spread were evaluated at 5 of 6 locations and percent infected kernels were evaluated also at 5 of 6 locations. Only four lines did not contain Asian germplasm, primarily from China. Disease severity of the lines was related at 4 of the 5 locations. Percent diseased kernels was less well related over locations.
