CSIRO Visiting Scientist visit: January 21-24, 2020

Matthew Purcell, the Director at the USDA ARS Australian Biological Control Lab (CSIRO, right in lab picture), and Jeffrey Makinson (CSIRO, Scientific Assistant, left) visited our lab in January. Their work includes conducting native range surveys and collecting herbivores on Old World climbing fern, Lygodium microphyllum. They visited a Florida field site with Dr. Ellen Lake and Dr. Aaron David (center) and observed two of the approved biological control agents, the moth Neomusotima conspurcatalis and the mite Floracarus perrepae, attacking Old World climbing fern. Matthew Purcell has been responsible for many of IPRL’s Biological Control successes.
