Water Matters Day: March 9, 2019
Water Matters Day is Broward County's annual water conservation event where residents can learn about local and regional water resources, concerns, and solutions. Scientific technicians Danyelle Fitzgerald, Andrea Carmona Cortes, and Eileen Pokorny set up the IPRL Biological Control Agent display to show residents how USDA is investigating invasive weeds that can effect water flow and how our biological control agents can provide a solution. Live biological control agents were on display and information about invasive weeds was distributed.
Nova Southeastern University Annual Career Fair: March 14, 2019
Science technicians Elizabeth Mattison and Danyelle Fitzgerald attended the annual career fair, "Recruit a Shark Day", at Nova Southeastern University. They were able to reach out to students about employment and volunteer opportunities at the USDA Invasive Plant Research Lab and educate the public on the mission of the facility as well as the educational outreach opportunities available to the public.
