- At least four Foresight 138-DB-1 "duckbill" earth anchors were installed at LWDS corners 1.5m below the stream bed surface and load tested to 4.5kN each
- Inspections during the second year of the experiment (2002) revealed that most anchors were either missing or had been pulled out of the bed.
- An analysis of the acting forces on the structure shows that the anchors likely experienced loads exceeding 4.5kN.
