Leadership in the Development of AnnAGNPS, the continuous Version of AGNPS |
AnnAGNPS |
Principal Investigator:Dr. Ronald L. Bingner |
Problem:
Watershed scale models are needed to evaluate effects from management practices on the entire watershed system. These modeling tools need to integrate the processes that occur from upland areas as they pass through the watershed and determine how management decisions can improve the entire water quality of the system.
Objective:
Develop improvements to AnnAGNPS water quality modules through cooperation with NRCS and other agencies requiring the needed information.
Description of Work:
Water quality modules will initially be developed with the cooperation of the Mississippi Delta MSEA (MDMSEA) project. Information will be obtained on the wetland and lake characteristics in those areas to produce improved techniques within the simulation model. Validation of the completed AnnAGNPS project water quality modules will also be performed with additional data from MDMSEA.
Benefit:
This will lead to improved technology needed to estimate the effectiveness of conservation management practices to improve the water quality throughout an entire watershed system. Improved environmental conditions will result for people and wildlife within and downstream of the watershed.
