Genomics Core Facility Work Flow
headline bar

Rice tissue (leaves or seed) are harvested from the greenhouse or field.

DNA is extracted from the seeds or leaves.

Once DNA is extracted we put it through a copying process much like photocopying with a color attached to the DNA during copying so we can detect it.

Thermocyclers make copies of DNA.

We use the Tecan robot to mix 3-4 copied genes with colors attached.

The copied DNA is run on a genotyping device

that uses a laser to detect the sizes of the colored DNA.

We look at the colored output to identify rice with the genes we want.
For our most complex projects we provide bioinformatics analysis.
