Navigation 2005 |
On Dec. 31, 2005, the ARS web site will be changing to look like the USDA web site. The ARS web site organizational structure will remain the same with 10 major information categories: Home, About ARS, Contact Us, Help, Research, Products & Services, People & Places, News & Events, Partnering, and Careers. What this means for our users is that all content that used to be found in a category at the old web site, ie. Research, will still be found in that same category at the new site; the only change is where the content button is located, and many have moved from the top to the left navigation system. Below are descriptions and snapshots of the new and old navigation systems. |
The New ARS Web Site Navigation |
With the new ARS web site navigation, only 4 categories of information appear in the top navigation bar: Home, About ARS, Contact Us, and Help. Our Spanish site, En Espa?ol, is also featured in the top navigation. The new left navigation bar contains the remaining information categories: Research, Products & Services, People & Places, News & Events, Partnering, and Careers. A major change is the left navigation elements will remain consistent throughout the site and expand with related content links when clicked. The new ARS web site also has a fixed width of 767 pixels. |
The Old ARS Web Site Navigation |
The old ARS web site navigation had all 10 categories in the top navigation bar. The left navigation bar links changed when a top navigation category button was clicked. |
