Zipporah Sowell is a proud alumna of the illustrious Tuskegee University, where she obtained her B.S in Plant & Soil Science. She is a Charlotte, NC native that served as a USDA 1890 Scholar sponsored by the Agricultural Research Service for two years. Zipporah now serves as a Biological Science Technician in Dr. Martha Vaughan’s lab where they conduct research focusing on eliminating mycotoxin contaminants produced by fungal plant pathogens. Furthermore, they analyze how climate change and agricultural production practices affect fungal disease severity. Outside of her laboratory career, she enjoys traveling, exercising, connecting with nature, and studying herbalism.
