- ARS Researcher Heping Cao, of the USDA-ARS Commodity Utilization Research Unit in New Orleans, LA will serve as a moderator/ judge at the 2021 Virtual Southern Section of the American Society of Plant Biologists Annual Meeting, April 16-18, 2021. Registration is required and you must be a member of the Society to register. This meeting is not open to the public/media.

- ARS Researcher Heping Cao, of the USDA-ARS Commodity Utilization Research Unit in New Orleans, LA will attend the Virtual Experimental Biology Conference. Attendees will “have access to thousands of presentations on ground-breaking research in anatomy, biochemistry, molecular biology, investigative pathology, pharmacology, and physiology.” Host societies for the Experimental Biology Conference include the American Association for Anatomy, American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, American Society for Investigative Pathology and the American Society for Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics. Members of the host societies are entitled to reduced registration rates. Registration is required and the conference is open to the public/media.

- ARS Researcher Jay Shockey, of the USDA-ARS Commodity Utilization Research Unit in New Orleans, LA will attend the Virtual American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) Annual Meeting, May 3-14, 2021. Dr. Shockey will also serve as Co-Chair for one session of the meeting. The AOCS Annual Meeting is “the largest annual conference for fats, oils, proteins, surfactants, biobased and sustainable materials. The meeting brings together thousands of scientists, technicians, nutritionists, researchers and other industry professionals to learn, collaborate and advance the field together.” The meeting is open to the public/media, however, all attendees must be registered and pay the appropriate registration fee to access the virtual meeting platform.

- ARS Research Hydrologist Michele R Reba, of the USDA-ARS Delta Water Management Research Unit in Jonesboro, AR will give an invited presentation on “Water use for sustainable rice production" at the virtual Cereals and Grains Association (formerly American Association of Cereal Chemistry International) meeting. This 5-part webinar series from the Rice Milling and Quality Technical Methods Committee will inform advancements in research, including water use for sustainable rice production, investigations of connections between the carbon and water cycles in rice production environments, advances in biotechnology for rice improvement, special development of rice varieties for different markets, and other topics that connect rice science and production with global sustainability. This meeting is not open to the media or public.
