IPT GENE INDUCED P450 GENE

Plant cytochrome P450 monooxygenases are heme-containing enzymes that participate in the synthesis of a wide variety of secondary products, some of which are inhibitory to the survival of pathogens, insects and vertebrate herbivores. Metabolic engineering of plants via genetic modification of the P450 enzymes has tremendous implications for molecular farming for natural plant chemicals used as pharmaceuticals and disease and insect deterrents.
