- for out-standing research in improving the understanding of sperm function in turkeys & the development of sire selection tests which predict paternity efficiency & have changed current dogma regarding the influence of sperm competition in this species.

- was a recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Award in Spain to continue his environmental studies on transmission of the human and animal pathogen, Cryptosporidium.
