In team research, Dr. Porter helped develop a genetic marker that can be used by breeders to rapidly identify pea lines with resistance to Pea Enation Mosaic Virus (PEMV).

 

In team research Dr. Porter helped identified four genes associated with Fusarium root rot resistance on pea and released five pea lines with high levels of resistance to this pathogen that are being used by several private pea breeding companies.
