Research Hydrologist
I received a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Egerton University in Kenya, and M.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering and a Ph.D. in Engineering Science with minors in Civil Engineering and Applied Statistics from Louisiana State University. I joined USDA ARS in August 2005 as a post-doc in Temple, TX. In October 2006, I moved to USDA ARS in El Reno OK as a Research Hydrologist (17 years) and served as Lead Scientist (9 years) and acting Research Leader (2019 -2020) for the Great Plains Agroclimate and Natural Resources Research Unit. I joined the USDA ARS NLAE in May 2024 as the Research Leader for the Agroecosystems Management Research Unit (AMRU). My research focuses on soil and water conservation using hydrologic and water quality models at field and watershed scales. More specifically, my research uses modeling tools to assess the impacts of land management, land use change and climate variability and change, and agricultural conservation impacts on soil and water resources and food production. I also conduct research on the impacts of land use and conservation and land management practices on reservoir sedimentation. I participate in the ARS Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) and the Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) USDA national initiatives in various capacities. I seek to use my leadership and research experiences and to leverage in-house and external collaborations to contribute to fulfilling the NLAE and AMRU research missions. My family and I enjoy travelling and watching movies. My wife and I also enjoy watching our kids play basketball.
