Research Project: Using Soil and Water Health Assessment Tools to Identify Best Management Strategies

Location: Poultry Production and Product Safety Research

Project Number: 6022-63000-006-030-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: May 1, 2023
End Date: Apr 30, 2028

Objective:
Evaluate how conservation agricultural practices impact soil health and water quality using multivariate assessment tools for sustainable intensification.

Approach:
The Soil Management Assessment Framework (SMAF) model is a soil quality evaluation tool and will be applied to investigate the impacts of long-term conservation practices on soil health in numerous experiments, as well evaluate how well soil health estimates relate to water quality and crop production.
