Objective:
The objective is to assess intestinal permeability of human subjects, primarily through the use of an assay of non-metabolizable sugars in urine.
Approach:
Utah State University will measure lactulose and mannitol in urine samples from the participants in the ARS clinical trial, “WHNRC Fiber Intervention Study”. We expect this to be approximately 180 urine samples. ARS will conduct statistical analysis and then conference with Utah State to jointly interpret the data.
