Research Project: Cap: Therapeutic Molecule Evaluation And Field Delivery Pipeline For Solutions To HLB

Location: Subtropical Insects and Horticulture Research

Project Number: 6034-22320-007-025-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2022
End Date: Jul 31, 2025

Objective:
Funds provided to Cornell University are for collaborative work on the following objectives: Conduct extension/outreach activities that include extension and academic meetings and internet-based content such as webinars social media outreach, and a podcast.

Approach:
Dr. Monique Rivera (Cornell University, Ithaca, NY) will lead the extension efforts for the project. She will develop content for academic and industry contacts in CA, TX and FL to inform growers about research efforts and engage them for feedback about research ideas. Rivera is also part of leadership on the Science for Citrus Health website that provides Research Snapshots, slides from presentations, and a podcast that features researchers in conversation about the science behind the project. She will co-author extension articles and present at grower and professional meetings. Activities will include demonstration and trial plot development, grower panel meetings to discuss new technology and get feedback during product development, grower field demonstration events, and presentations at grower meetings and trade shows. Social media content and outreach will be conducted (especially with student project support) to develop citrus industry and consumer feedback to new technologies. Outreach will be adapted as commercializable technology priorities are identified.
