Research Project: Development of Phenotyping Tools to Characterize Carrot Early Plant Growth and Compliment Genetic Analysis of Plant Development

Location: Vegetable Crops Research

Project Number: 5090-21000-073-103-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 15, 2024
End Date: Jul 14, 2028

Objective:
1) Develop phenotyping tools to characterize carrot early plant growth 2) Use data generated along with carrot genomic information to predict and select for improved carrot growth

Approach:
1. Apply advanced digital phenotyping technologies to generate detailed models of carrot early plant growth 2. Utilize genotypic information available on these growing plants to identify genes controlling early carrot growth. 3. Evaluate carrot growth in several diverse genetic background
