Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Rice sheath blight is one of the most threatening rice diseases worldwide. Presently sheath blight disease is managed by the use of chemicals integrated with compressive cultural management systems. Identification of genetic resistance and understanding of gene expressions at early interphase during pathogen infection have been one of the primary focus of the Molecular Plant Pathology program at USDA-ARS Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center. Research progress on the identification of pathogen signaling molecules, host genetic resistance and disease evaluation was presented to the staff members of International Rice Research Institute, the Philippines.
