Nutrient Intakes per 1000 Kilocalories: 2011-2012 What We Eat in America, NHANES Tables 41-44. Worldwide Web Site: Food Surveys Research Group. Available: www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=18349. Interpretive Summary: Data tables summarizing dietary intakes of the U.S. population can readily be used by government groups, nutrition researchers, and the general public. The Food Surveys Research Group of the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center has analyzed dietary data from the What We Eat in America (WWEIA), National and Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2012 and developed 4 additional tables summarizing nutrient intakes per 1000 kilocalories from food and beverages. This new set of tables will facilitate quick comparisons of nutrient intakes between the age/gender, race/ethnicity, and income groups. All tables are available on the FSRG Web site: www.ars.usda.gov/nea/bhnrc/fsrg. The availability and enhanced accessibility of these new tables are a benefit to users in need of current population-level information on nutrient intakes of Americans. Technical Abstract: The Food Surveys Research Group of the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center has analyzed dietary data from the What We Eat in America (WWEIA), National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2012 and released 4 additional summary data tables for this latest 2-year survey release. Tables 41-44 provide population estimates for 65 nutrients/dietary components per 1000 kilocalories. Estimated means and standard errors are provided for expanded age/gender groups as well as four race/ethnicity groups, family income in dollars, and as a percent of poverty threshold using revised categories. In WWEIA, NHANES, dietary intakes are collected using the USDA 5-step Automated Multiple-Pass Method. Each year data are collected from a nationally representative sample of 5,000 individuals and released at 2-year intervals. All tables are available on the FSRG Web site: www.ars.usda.gov/nea/bhnrc/fsrg. |
