Farming and ranching for the bottom line. Meeting Abstract. 1. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Farming and Ranching for the Bottom Line is an annual conference that brings together researchers and practitioners to share knowledge to a broader audience. For 2021, talks will focus on sharing information with northern Great Plains agricultural producers on the economics, ecology and social factors related to their operations. Dr. David Archer will review outcomes from 2020 Area 4 Farm, discussing benefits of diversity and stored soil moisture; Dr. Andrea Clemensen will discuss how different farming systems and the environment may affect food and soil quality; and Dr. Rachael Christensen will discuss pasture management effects on copper utilization in growing heifers. These three talks by USDA-ARS NGPRL scientists will be complemented by talks from other USDA-ARS, academic, agency, and private partners. Collectively, presentations will highlight current research and inform producers of the most up-to-date research that could impact the bottom line in their farming and ranching operations. |
