Interpretive Summary: The plant virus family Tymoviridae comprises the genera Tymovirus, Marafivirus, and Maculavirus. Members of the family share certain chacteristics which distinguish them from other plant viruses. Based on the species demarcation criteria established to identify and create new virus species, this taxonomic proposal describes three novel viruses from naranjilla and sorghum that are related but distinct from current members of the family Tymoviridae. Accordingly, we propose creation of three new species, two in the genus Tymovirus and one in the genus Marafivirus, to classify these viruses.
