DOI: https://doi.org/10.1128/MRA.00344-23 Interpretive Summary: Cytorhabdoviruses are an emerging group of viruses with several newly reported species. In this study, we recovered a novel isolate of papaya virus E (PpVE) from tomato fruits. The full genome was sequenced using high throughput sequencing. This is the first report of a PpVE strain recovered from a new host. Genetic analysis shows that this species is highly diverse. This genome announcement is an important resource for plant virologists, diagnosticians, and regulatory agencies. Technical Abstract: A novel isolate of papaya virus E was identified in tomato fruits from Mexico. The coding-complete genome sequence was determined using high-throughput sequencing. The coding-complete genome is 13,412 nucleotides and contains eight open reading frames. |
