Slide 16.   Erosion protection and revegetation of stockpiled soil and reconstructed landscapes is a major challenge in Australian strip mining operations because of the generally low amounts of water available for revegetation, and the tendency for rainfall to be sporadic and occur in large erosive events separated by long intervals without further rainfall.  PAM's ability to reduce erosion and improve infiltration are being explored as tools to help with these problems.
