Dr. Helen Ngo Wins 2014 AOCS Young Scientist Research Award |
I am pleased to inform you that we have just learned that Dr. Helen Ngo of the Sustainable Biofuels and Coproducts Research Unit has been selected by the American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) to receive their 2014 Young Scientist Research Award. Dr. Ngo, who is presently the Lead Scientist of our lipid utilization program, has been with ARS, at ERRC, since 2004. There she is applying her expertise in solid state organic catalysis to convert agricultural fats and oils to new, novel and desirable industrial products. With over 36 publications since receiving her doctoral degree, the value of her work is evidenced by receipt of extramural grants, the awarding of patents, and interest from the private sector in licensing her technologies. AOCS is the world's premier society for professionals who deal with the science and technology of fats and oils. The AOCS Young Scientists Award is meant to recognize a young scientist with substantial research contributions in one of the areas represented by an AOCS Division. Additionally, the candidate's contribution must have been significant in basic or applied research and had a significant effect on advances in the discipline or hold substantial promise for its effect in the near future
Please join me in congratulating Helen!
