Mission:
The Southern Regional Research Center’s (SRRC) major project to partially upgrade the facility utilities and other improvements brought about by destruction from the flood and to minimize the effect of any of future floods is now complete. This effort, which followed a specific line of progression, began in the summer of 2009. Along with repair measures, certain deficiencies that surfaced during the past condition survey were also addressed and corrected. The current upgrade, however, does not correct many other deficiencies relative to the safety and security codes and this department's mission is now modified to correct the said deficiencies as funding becomes available. The described corrective measures will be required to meet today’s scientific and safety requirements. The added mission of the continuous handicapped accessibility and the re-establishment of a weather-resistant enclosure for proper environmental control and energy efficiency/conservation will remain in effect fully.
