Objective:
The comprehensive goal of the proposed agreement is to provide solutions to practical problems and in-depth understanding on basic knowledge in the areas of Food Safety, Food Process, and Functional Foods through collaborative research beetween Korean Food Research Institute and ARS/ERRC. This will be done by advanced technologies, including but not limited to applications of genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics for microbe and metabolism characterization and identification, pathogen inhibition and deactivation.

Approach:
1. Korean Food Research Institute and ARS/ERRC will exchange research scientists for short term (days, weeks, months, or long term (greater than or equal to one year) research projets of common interests. 2. Exchange research information through binational meetings, national and international conferences, personal visits, and virtual meetings. 3. Co-apply for research funds from national/international scientific research organizations to perform joint research projects on food safety research and functional food development. 4. Co-organize international meetings to network with scientists worldwide, explore new research opportunities, and promote global reputations of both the Forean Food Research Institue and ARS/ERRC.
