Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Food Safety and Intervention Technologies Research Unit at the Eastern Regional Research Center develops processing technologies to improve the safety and quality of a variety of commodities. A primary research focus for almost twenty years has been the development and optimization of cold plasma for the sanitation of foods and food contact surfaces. This presentation will briefly summarize the scope of established cold plasma research in FSIT as it relates to fresh and fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, meats, seeds, and other commodities of interest in the context of plasma agriculture. Ongoing research projects and established milestones for FSIT research projects will be discussed as the basis for data sharing, technology transfer, and for potential collaborations.
