Biography & Research Interests
Dr. McCarty’s research area is Agronomy/Breeding with emphasis in expanding cotton’s genetic diversity, conversion of photoperiodic primitive races of cotton to day-neutrality, germplasm enhancement for improved fiber quality, and breeding for root-knot and reniform nematode resistance. During his research career he has had enough success to remain motivated and enough failure to remain well grounded.
Outside Interests
Dr. McCarty’s other interest include visiting the family farm, enjoying the wonders of nature, family history, photography, and traveling.
